Haha Hofstra's First Comedy Showcase of Spring '14

2/28/2014

Picture
If you're a Hofstra student or happen to be on Long Island, NY tonight, come see Haha Hofstra's first comedy showcase of the semester. I will be performing as the last stand-up comic of the night, with several hilarious peeps performing before me. One of Up at Night Comedy's biggest contributors as well as one of my biggest buddies, Dan Johnson, will be hosting.
If you're interested in what my material will be about tonight, I won't give it away, but I'll give you some clues: the precautions of future long-distance traveling, the word "city", and the Polar Express sequel....I'm not telling you anything else! You'll have to come tonight to hear it all. I hope to see you there!
I also hope you like the goofy Putin flyer I made for the show as well.

Tonight- Friday, February 28th
Spiegel Theater
8:00pm

Thomas Middleditch: A Rising Comedy Superstar

2/21/2014

Ladies and Gentleman, keep your ears and eyes open for a man named Thomas Middleditch. No...he's not in trouble, but he is featured in the video above, The Morning After, a funny short about the situation a man gets himself into after a one night stand. The video was produced by Broadway Video's Above Average Productions (The full series of The Morning After is fantastic btw. Check it out).
I have a strong feeling it won't be long before Thomas Middleditch becomes a household name. He first emerged from the comedy scene when he began performing at Chicago's Second City and at the UCB Theaters in both NY and LA years back.
You might have noticed him recently when he made an appearance in Academy Award-nominated film The Wolf of Wall Street. He played a goofy broker who unfortunately got his goldfish eaten by Jonah Hill's character. He has also recently made appearances on programs such as The League, Key and Peele, The Pete Holmes Show, and also The Office, where he played Jeb Schrute, Rainn Wilson's brother (Middleditch would have also played the same role if Dwight Schrute's spin-off show hadn't been put off).
I'm also EXTREMELY excited to say that we will be seeing Mr. Middleditch on the big screen this upcoming fall when he stars in comedy film, Search Party (directed by Scot Armstrong), with strong supporting cast members such as TJ Miller, Jon Glaser, JB Smoove, Krystan Ritter, and Jason Matzoukas. We can also anticipate to hear Thomas Middleditchin's voice in our theaters in 2017 when we see him in my favorite child superhero's movie, Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants, where he will voice the character of Harold Hutchins. The film will also be produced by Dreamworks...so you know it will be good. For another absolutely hilarious online short of Thomas Middleditch, I recommend you check out this short film, Michel Jean-Michel: Overexposed.

Fred Armisen to lead Seth Meyer's Late Night band

I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out that former SNL cast member, Fred Armisen, would be taking the job as the Late Night band leader. Besides Fred consistently being one of the funniest guys on the planet over the past decade (SNL and IFC's Portlandia, including numerous appearances on other comedy programs), Fred is also a very talented musician. He has been playing the drums for quite some time now, even before comedy came into picture. Back in the 90's, Fred was the drummer for Chicago based punk band Trenchmouth before also joining the Blue Man Group. It was after those years of Fred rocking his midwest drums before he finally found his stardom in the comedy world. Not only can you expect Fred to bring his A-game to the drum set on February 24th, when Seth Meyer's takes over Late Night, but you can also bet your shoes that Fred Armisen will bring his comedy genius to the plate. I predict that many of Fred's lovable characters from the past (especially ones from the Weekend Updates) will be making appearances on Seth's show, as well as many new characters. Mr. Armisen will definitely be adding a great dynamic to the Late Night franchise, and I'm absolutely thrilled to see him on my TV screen this late February.
