I'm excited to be hosting Haha Hofstra's Exam Cram Comedy Jam this Friday, May 2nd at the Netherlands Core (Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY). The show begins at 8:00pm and we will be having many of Hofstra's funniest people on the stage. There will be several performances by comedians from Haha Hofstra, with also some improv from Hofstra's comedy troupe Tequila Mockingbird....and to top the night off, there will even be some music from Mike Tedesco (not featured on the flyer to the left, because we kind of lost the Pep band) . It's going to be a great night full of laughs and joy. I can't believe I'm even allowed to host this thing...who the hell let me host this thing...SEE YOU ALL THERE!

Stephen Colbert is the perfect choice for taking over Letterman

4/22/2014

When I first heard the breaking news that David Letterman would be retiring from the Late Show, I immediately became upset. Even though I knew Dave was bound to retire eventually (I mean he has been in late night television for over 30+ years), I was still sad to hear that he had finally decided to hang up his hat. I've been watching the Late Show for quite some time now, and Dave's wry humor and wit has always made me laugh. He is, hands down, one of the best late night TV interviewers of all time. Sometimes I go on YouTube to just watch a bunch of random interviews that Dave has done over the years. David Letterman will surely be missed from our television screens.

When I heard that Stephen Colbert would officially be taking over the Late Show though, I was ecstatic. Trying to fill the shoes of David Letterman is a very daunting task, but CBS made the fantastic choice of choosing Stephen Colbert. There is no better choice. Stephen is perfect for the Late Show. The amount of energy and entertainment value that Stephen can bring to the TV screen is remarkable. Even though Stephen will now have to drop his satirical character that he has been doing over the past nine years, Mr. Colbert is a longtime entertainer and comedian. Stephen’s transition into his actual “self” for the Late Show will come to him in utter ease. I’ve been in the audience for four tapings of The Colbert Report before, and before every show, Stephen comes out and talks to the audience without being in his character persona. And every time Stephen was absolutely hysterical. He even brought tears to my eyes.

Stephen and his staff have been greatly influencing the American population since 2005, with many awards already under their belts. When they all move over to the Late Show in 2015, I’m sure they’ll continue to pile on the accolades. Over the years, David Letterman has publicly humiliated several right-wing pundits during his interviews. I’m sure Stephen Colbert will take the opportunity to do the same exact thing when he takes over the Late Show, continuing the fire he has had with The Colbert Report.
