Has your summer not been wet, hot, or American enough for you? If not (or even so), I highly recommend you go to Netflix and watch the eight-episode series, Wet Hot American Summer, (as well as the original 2001 film) if you haven't already! Wet Hot American Summer has been one of my favorite comedy movies for a while, and I can't believe how well the series has lived up to it. The series/film has an unbeatable cast. David Wain and Michael Showalter hit it out of the park again, both on-screen and behind the scenes.
I'm extremely thrilled to share that I'll be interning as a Writers'/General Production at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in the spring.
I've been dreaming about working in the halls of the sixth floor of 30 Rock since I was a dorky 12-year-old. I can't believe I'll finally be getting the chance! The training days were awesome and I can't wait to officially begin in a couple of weeks!
A satirical short I made for Hofstra University's sketch TV show "Thursday Nite Live." I made this during the peak of the iPhone 6 release and craze. The video starts off like your typical phone commercial, but it becomes very nuts by the end, haha. This aired as a two-part segment on TNL.

I'm excited to say that I am interning as a Creative Development & Production intern at Storyville Entertainment this Fall. I'll will be helping to develop and create new programming for channels such as A&E, Bravo, MTV, OWN, Travel, and a couple other basic cable channels! It's also extra exciting because Storyville signed a deal last Spring, teaming up with Converge Media Group (JB Smoove's talent agency) to make original content for their comedians (JB Smoove, Rich Vos, Pete Dominic, Carly Aquillino, Chris DiStefano, and others).
I've already been learning a lot so far at Storyville; helping to cast for one show, developing new episodes for another certain TV show, and even developing/pitching my own original series. I can't wait to begin editing some sizzle reels and even go on some production shoots! The photos featured above are stills from Up at Night's upcoming release, "Walked Too Deep" (name pending change). I don't want to give away too much information about the project just yet. There is potentially some VERY GOOD news coming towards the project's release...Exciting stuff!
The project isn't your typical Up at Night Comedy production. Believe it or not, there isn't really any humor in the project. The project can be best described as a drama- -modern western mixed with some neo-noir elements. "Walked Too Deep" also happens to be one of Up at Night's most extensive projects to date. Talented SAG actors from productions such as The Carrie Diaries and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star in the project. A beautiful 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL was used in the filming of the production. I also took the old film advice of "directors should never cut their own films" and I hired a professional editor from CBS Sports to sequence the project for Up at Night. The whole thing was shot in Massachusetts' Bridgewater Triangle and its surrounding areas in southeast MA. For those who don't know, the Bridgewater Triangle is considered one of the most haunted regions in the northeast USA. I figure it must also be one of most beautiful regions in North America...but I may be a little biased considering I grew up in Bridgewater, MA. Keep an eye out for "Walked Too Deep." More updates on the project are to follow! Featured above is one of my favorite Mr. Show skits of all time. Mr.Show also happens to be one of my favorite sketch comedy series of all time. I really think they had some of the best comedy segues of all time. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are some of my biggest inspirations. Not only do I admire their comedy, but I really appreciate their producing abilities, especially when it comes to Bob. These two absolutely kill it in the video above, "Fuzz the Musical." David Cross's solo and Bob Odenkirk's "I Am A Camera" brings me to tears every time. It's Thursday, so here is another edition of a "throwback thursday" video from Up at Night Comedy. During the summer of 2008, after my freshman year of high school, my beloved TV show Late Night with Conan O'Brien held a contest to see which Late Night fans could make the best commercials for the show. Being the eager Conan fan and amateur comedy video creator that I already was, I HAD to enter the contest. So the next day after Conan announced the contest on the show, I invited over my friend Chris, and I forced him and my brother and sister to be in the video entry. We ended up shooting the whole thing in my messy basement. In the video, I also attempted to do my most exaggerated impression of Conan (mimicking Conan's leperchaun and self-depricating impression that he used to do of himself on the show). After I emailed my DVD copy to 30 Rock, I never heard back from the Late Night staff (not surprising haha). I wish I would have put a little more effort into the commercial, but then again I was only 15 years old haha. One of the best things that came out of this video was that one of the actual guys that made air twice on Conan from the contest messaged me on YouTube and told me how he really enjoyed my effort and sense of humor. Nice guy. It is Thursday...so Up at Night Comedy will be doing their first ever "throwback Thursday." Featured below is a song and music video I made back in the beginning of my junior year of high school (October 2009). The song is called "Nonsense" (...and you'll quickly understand why it's named that). I made the song under my "rapper's" name, Maniac McGee. I improvised about 80% of the lyrics, and I don't believe I did many takes. I edited the whole video with Sony Vegas, and I believe I made all of the song with Vegas as well. I definitely must have been inspired by The Lonely Island before creating this. Haha. I hope you enjoy it! |
